Escape X: Annie Stevens and Andrea Venet

"These are two remarkable artists whose voices blend seamlessly in a dazzling display
of marimba performance at its highest level."
-- Scott Stevens, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra percussionist

Escape X is a percussion duo formed by Dr. Annie Stevens and Andrea Venet. Their name, Escape X, originates from their trademark "roadtrip" style performance tours in a Ford Escape, taking place throughout the United States. Their inaugural performance endeavor was a three-week cross-country tour, where they drove from Virginia to L.A. On this tour, Escape X performed concerts in 10 cities across the U.S.

Remaining passionate about exploring all genres and expressing these creatively through the world of percussion, their repertoire includes innovative arrangements and compositions commissioned exclusively by the duo. Their first album, Colours of a Groove, was released in 2014. They tour extensively as Malletech artists, are educators and have their own publication series through KPP.

In 2015, Escape X premiered their commission, 2300 Degrees, by Ivan Trevino, in Atlanta's Spivey Hall. They commissioned and premiered a new wind ensemble arrangement of Sejourne's Double Concerto at VMEA (VA) in 2014. Recently, Escape X performed at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia alongside keyboard virtuoso Leigh Howard Stevens and renowned vibraphonists Stefon Harris, Warren Wolf and Tony Miceli. Additional performances include the 35th and 36th Annual LHS Marimba Seminars, the McCormick Marimba Festival, the Minnesota Percussion Association DOP, North Carolina DOP, University of Central Arkansas, University of North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Eastman and the International Trombone Festival.
