Tuneful, tonal works, with challenging rhythmic interplay between the hands. Particularly well-suited for those players who are advanced in their rhythmic coordination, but only intermediate level in their marimba playing. The pieces can be performed as a set or individually. A Dance, Carousel, In Troubadour Style, and Perpetual Motion.

Musical FeaturesThe harmonic language is interval based. As the voice-leading of the mallets progresses, the harmony is the resultant action.

Time signatures and rhythmic language is clear and understandable.

A Dance: numerous time signature and tempo changes. By far the longest piece of the four in regards to duration.

Carousel: short, 3/8 time.

In Troubadour Style: song-like. Use of 3 over 2 polyrhythms between upper voices and accompaniment.

Perpetual Motion: Use of 3 over 4 polyrhythm. Useful as an etude.
Technical FeaturesLiberal use of Double Verticals in narrow intervals (3rds to 6ths)
Natural register used primarily with a bit of accidentals.
Carousel and Perpetual Motion would be good, short technical studies.
