Product Information

“I was practising on the Cello etude no1 in G Major by Bach when I started to mix my left hand mallets in the piece. However I begun to develop a melody and a bass line which formed an idea of an uneven sound from a Street Organ - somewhere in Paris”  //

Musical FeaturesWritten in 11/8 (and later 6/4), but the patterns and groupings are relatively easy to follow.
Begins as repetitive groupings of 16th notes felt as 3+4+4.
Mallets overlap frequently (e.g., LH is on the accidentals and RH is on the naturals only a half-step apart).
6/4 section features a rolling LH bass line with RH melody. The sticking is such that the RH has to help cover the LH arpeggios in between the melodic line.
Ending of the piece is a fade-out.
Technical Features7 minutes
DurationIncludes all stroke types.
Two brief chorale sections and a 2-bar one-handed roll (RH only).
Some wide intervals (octaves and 9ths).
Sticking permutations fall naturally.
InstrumentationMarimba 4.3 Octave (optional low E) - 4 Mallets
