Shadow on Mist was composed for flautist Kim McCormick and the University of South Florida Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Robert McCormick, and is recorded on the Capstone Records CD of the same name. It was inspired by the pictorial imagery of South Florida. The flautist alternates between C-flute, alto, flute, and piccolo. Flute passages emerge out of reverberating layers sound produced by definitely-and indefinitely-pitched percussion instruments
