Sketches in Noir is a seven-movement suite for solo vibraphone based on extra-musical themes from film noir, weighing in at roughly 18 minutes. This suite is essentially a collection of character pieces, in that it is supremely programmatic, and each movement contains at least one complete event, location, or person.
