David Ameele

David Ameele is a well-known drummer in the Los Angeles area. He has extensive performing experience as a percussionist, and over twenty years of experience as a music educator at all levels. He is also a published composer who writes in the idioms of jazz, concert band, and solo percussion. As one of the better known drummers in the Los Angeles area, Dave Ameele has led a jazz group since 1990. He has extensive performing and recording experience as a percussionist in Los Angeles, New York City, and Rochester (NY), as well as touring in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. He is also a music educator with over twenty years of experience as a band director at all levels, as a private percussion teacher, and as a festival adjudicator. He is an experienced clinician who has presented percussion and jazz clinics for school districts and state conferences, and an author of many articles in music education journals.

Mr. Ameele has a B.M. from SUNY Potsdam (NY) and an M.M. from Manhattan School of Music, with additional graduate studies at Eastman School of Music. He has taught in the Rochester (NY) and Los Angeles (CA) areas, currently at Anaheim High School. Beside his quick wit and corny jokes, he is known for his collection of over 30 snare drums, most of which are playable antiques.
