Ron Fink

Ron Fink holds a master's and bachelor's in music from the University of Illinois. Fink studied with Paul Price, Jack McKenzie and Al Payson while at Illinois. Fink, who has been at UNT since 1964, is past vice-president of the Percussive Arts Society and former board member of that society for 10 years. He also was the percussion editor for The Instrumentalist. As a writer and publisher, he has publications on drum set, timpani, snare drum, vibraphone, and mallet ensemble.

Fink was former principal percussionist and timpanist with the Fort Worth Symphony, Opera, and Ballet orchestras. He has done much freelance playing with many groups, including his own bands. Fink and two UNT physics professors were awarded a grant to study the harmonic analysis of the timpani using spectral analysis. Ron Fink is well known as a collector of old toys and gives lecture-slide presentations. Some of his research photos appear in toy books and periodicals.
