Written for bass drum, two toms, snare drum, tambourine, woodblock and suspended cymbal, this virtuosic work features a graceful, 3/4 time waltz followed by a fast “galop”. The thematic motif is developed through various changing meters, dynamic contrast and accents, all building to an exciting climax.
