Dedicated to retired Eastman School of Music Professor of Percussion, John Beck, this contemporary work in three contrasting movements displays the musicianship/musicality of the high school or college timpanist through drama, dynamic contrast, good tone production, and timbral variety ( general and hard/wood mallets, 4 soft marimba mallets, various beating areas – normal, center, near rim), glissandi and not-too-difficult pitch changes.
