A great set of recital pieces, for the advanced high school or college student. Not as difficult as some of my music, and very enjoyable musically. Dedicated to Larissa Venzie, who did the premiere performance in the spring of 2007.

Gordon Stout (b.1952) is currently Professor of Percussion at the School of Music, Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y., where he has taught percussion since 1980.

Gordon Stout’s Four Dances for Marimba is one of his newest sets of music for solo marimba. Here is what he has to say about these new dances –
