Septet features a soloist part for bongos and timbales with roto-tom, triangle, cymbals, cowbells, and cabasa providing the accompaniment. The timbales present a 16 bar theme which is then varied and developed.

Special effects include drumming with fingers and using rattan on the side of a marimba.
