In Swedish, the title means “playthings” or toys. The work is designed for 8 players who, according to the composer, should “treat their instruments as objects of youthful amazement and experimentation.”

Marimba Quartet

$48.00$55.00

This work is an unsung hero of the marimba quartet literature. A classic that will bring smiles to the players’ faces at the first rehearsal (well, maybe the second rehearsal . . .), and the audience’s faces in the first 30 seconds.

Outgoing

$74.00

Outgoing (original version 2011) is scored for piano, marimba (5.0), timpani and two percussionists, and is approximately 9’30” in length. In instrumentation only, I had in mind the Sonata for Two Pianists and Two Percussionists by Bartok. The marimba part is the second piano part. There is a highly chromatic timpani part as in the Sonata. The percussion parts are really in effect a drum set part split into two parts, one playing the drums and one playing cymbals, thus completing the similarity in instrumentation to the Bartok Sonata. This is a broad and expansive work, encompassing a number of different styles of music and expressive capabilities of the exciting chamber group.

Percussion Quartet No. 1

$14.00

An exciting piece for four players, each playing a drum, wood sounds and cymbal. (None of the required set-ups are large.) The improvised sections, each one emphasizing a different element (timbre, dynamic, rhythm, etc.), give the players opportunities to be creative within a controlled context.

“This piece is technically difficult and musically challenging. But this is an enormously rewarding piece for the performers and will be a moving experience for the audience.” – Percussive Notes
