“With the CD Mirages, I wanted to express two aspects of my musical personality: the “classical” side and the “jazzy” side. With the exception of Zapateado, all of the repertoire is original, but in an extremely wide-ranging styles. I imagined a “zapping listener” clicking through all the different tracks on this CD – seeing flashes of mirages, just like someone lost in the desert. It is sort of a full-length expansion of the idea I first had when I wrote Zapping Trio for Marimba, Clarinet and String Bass.”
