The title is taken from the new form of USB, a high data-transfer cable which is the interface for today’s digital audio and video devices (allowing the user to send more than a CD’s worth of data every 10 seconds). In the piece, the performer becomes the Fire Wire, relaying information to the audience at a high rate of speed.
